Agile is a project management methodology that has been used by software development teams for years. Recently it has been gaining interest in many other fields as a tool to help teams increase productivity and create constant improvement.
“So, how does this relate to me?” We thought you’d ask that.
If you change the word “software” to “solutions” in the manifesto below, you will see that it transforms to work across many disciplines. While Agile is not a one-stop solution, it is a way to look at things differently and achieve some of the goals that we are looking for in all businesses.
The Agile Manifesto simply says:
We are uncovering better ways of developing software [or solutions] by doing it and helping others do it.Through this work we have come to value:
Individuals and interactions over processes and tools;
Working software [or solutions] over comprehensive documentation;
Customer collaboration over contract negotiation;
Responding to change over following a plan.
That is, while there is value in the items on the right, we value the items on the left more.
Would the Agile methodology work for your business? Our colleagues at LeaningAgile.com have discovered it can work for anyone, as long as the right conditions are in place. See what Mark Kilby has to say on the matter by clicking on the link below.
