Somewhere between the toasts and the resolutions, a new year begins. Here at Tricycle, we embraced 2011 in a big way — by moving into a brand new space!
This is a new beginning for us, in a neighborhood with 130 years of history. Founded in the 1880’s by immigrants from Spain, Cuba Germany and Italy, Ybor City was a thriving community, and the Cigar Capitol of the World until the 1930’s. Throughout the years, Ybor City has remained a melting pot in Tampa, with a reputation for being a culturally developed and forward-thinking community. The charm and character of Ybor City’s classic brick roads, lined with historic facades, extends to the eclectic group of people who call it home. From the daytime crowd enjoying the stroll down 7th Avenue and lunch at the Colombia, to the nightime crowd enjoying live music and a selection of bars as unique as the patrons in them, there is something here for just about anyone.
Tricycle Studios brings our own mix of history and fresh new ideas to the block. The “new to us” building’s mixture of modern polish and a solid foundation is the perfect foil for the creative approach to work practiced within these walls. There is more room to grow, but the extra space has only served to bring the Trike team closer together. Managing a move during which the chairs left the previous space before the team did (Pull up a box!) meant working together in new ways.
The boxes are unpacked, the pictures are hung, and we can’t wait to see what this year has in store!
Happy New Year, from all of us at Tricycle Studios!
